AUDEMAT Product:

RADIO ALL IN ONE - Digiplexer 246 with audio backup and FM transmitter option

This “all-in-one” product is an evolution from years of Audemat expertise in this field. Actually, Audemat developed their first “all-in-one” products several years ago: the Digiplexer FMX series (FMX480 and FMX410) those units included an RDS and stereo encoder as well as a digital clipper. Last year Audemat launched at IBC 2007 a new generation of Digiplexer: the Digiplexer 214. This unit includes now a cutting-edge digital audio processor, 2 or 4 band. This year Audemat is showcasing their new addition to the line, the Digiplexer 246: a 3U unit with front panel touch screen for easy configuration. The Digiplexer 246 includes a world-class digital audio processor (2/4 band), RDS and stereo generators, transmitter remote control capabilities, backup audio over IP capabilities and an optional built-in FM exciter (1, 20 or 100W).

This unit is the first one in its class available on the market. The 4 band version features 2.8 Giga flops of processing power which allows a sampling frequency of 192 kHz for incoming audio and a 1.5 MHz sampling frequency for the final composite/MPX clipper. The Digiplexer series provides an analog feel to the sound with the accuracy you would expect from a digital processor. “The DSPs in the Audemat DIGIPLEXER 246 feature one of the highest calculation rates available to date, 4 giga-flops.” States Nicolas Boulay, Vice President of Research and development for Audemat.

ECRESO Product:

RADIO ALL IN ONE – NEXT FM with new built-in audio backup and 2/4 band digital audio processor (optional)

The NEXT FM is a new generation of FM exciter that can be delivered in 3 different power ranges 1, 20W or 100W. On top of classic broadcasting functions, NEXT FM includes additional and innovative peripheral features such as stereo encoding, state of the art digital sound processing FM/HD/DAB 2/4 band, RDS encoding, audio back up, and the capability to manage a 1+1 installation and perform preventive maintenance with embedded broadcast test equipment. The NEXT FM Exciter can be packaged with RF amplifiers to create an “All-in-one” transmitter ranging from 250 W to 10 kW.

2008-06-03 - Product - Audemat presents T3020 and T2005 at BROADCAST ASIA2008
Combined receiver and DVB-T monitoring unit for ultimate reliability

Audemat announced today that they are introducing at BROADCAST ASIA 2008 booth 8G2-03 two new DVB-T products: T3020 and T2005. The T3020, “integrated DVB front-end”, is an innovative “all-in-one” equipment for remultiplexing. Indeed, the T3020 is able to integrate up to four different receivers (Satellite, terrestrial IP or ASI) and able to multiplex new content coming from these receivers. In order to ensure of the quality of this new transmission, the T3020 integrates all the monitoring functions of the T2005: quality analysis of a TV transmitter, RF and MPEG 2-TS analysis of the parameters at any point of the rebroadcasting chain.
“The T3020 is revolutionary as it offers many features within the same unit at a very attractive price” States Jean-Luc Giraud, Manager of this project. “It performs very accurate monitoring as the unit receives the data from the embedded receivers, the unit is capable of identifying quickly any problems and communicating the information to technical personnel”. States Nicolas Boulay VP of Engineering for Audemat.

Communication:

Access to configuration, measurement results and alarm status are accessible remotely over a TCP/IP network on an Ethernet interface using HTTP, FTP and SNMP protocols. The embedded software can be easily updated remotely through FTP and HTTP. Other interfaces like RS232 and dry contacts (closure on alarms) are standard.

Typical configuration:
A typical T3020 configuration would have the unit receiving national services from satellite and adding regional content received either from satellite or from a local distribution network (optical fiber link,…): the incoming streams are then remultiplexed before broadcasting.

About T2005:
The T2005 is designed for monitoring digital terrestrial transmitters. It performs real-time RF transmission quality measurements, MPEG2 stream analysis according to TR 101 290, MPEG2 services decoding and remote-controlled alarms management through Ethernet TCP/IP interface.

2008-05-28 - Product - Audemat’s SCRIPTEASY V2 now includes SNMP GET/SET management
The software pushes facilities management and transmitter remote control to new domains.

Miami, FL USA – Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - Audemat (http://www.Audemat.com) announced that SCRIPTEASY V2 now includes SNMP GET/SET commands capabilities enabling virtually any Broadcast equipment using the SNMP protocol to be monitored and controlled via TCP/IP.

“This is major step that will ease the monitoring and control of many types of broadcast equipment including transmitters.” States Christophe Poulain, EVP for Audemat Inc “This will avoid time consuming and expensive wiring connections at the transmitting site and facilitate complex operations such as 1+1 and N+1 transmitter management.” Adds Poulain.

GET and SET commands appear via 2 new icons that AUDEMAT engineers added in their Graphic Script Designer module that behave as virtual digital inputs and relay outputs and can be connected with other and more traditional inputs and outputs for automatic actions or alarms sending. They send queries and get answers that are compared with normal operating conditions, or set values in the connected equipment.

More innovation resides in the fact that SCRIPTEASY V2 software will be soon available and as standard software with about 10 Audemat products: Not only the Transmitter Remote Control line, but also HD, ATSC, DVB-T/H monitoring equipment as well as our FM/HD Audio Processors and “Radio All in One” product line called Digiplexer. Now all AUDEMAT equipment that includes SCRIPTEASY software is compatible with the AUDEMAT Broadcast Manager, management software, for centralized management and monitoring. These units are also able to talk to each other as well as interact with other broadcast equipment or devices in the same IP network. “With the proliferation of SNMP based equipment in the radio and TV ecosystems, applications are endless.” States Nicolas Boulay, VP Research and development for Audemat.

Ecreso 20 or 100 W exciter:

An optional Ecreso exciter can be added to the DIGIPLEXER 246. It has low distortion < 0.05 % and the best FM S/N ratio > 80 dB. It also has a very good channel separation up to 50 dB over the whole band and PLL controlled by microprocessor. It is adjustable from 2 to 20W or 10 to 100W (depending on version).

Reliability and efficiency:

The Audemat R&D team worked specifically on the reliability of the unit to avoid any potential failure. In fact, the operating system is contained within flash memory to insure continued operation in case of the remote possibility of hard drive failure. The DIGIPLEXER 246 includes 2 power supplies for maximum redundancy. The audio card is independent of the rest of the unit the DIGIPLEXER can be rebooted without interrupting the audio. The unit is very efficient as it replaces several units at the site.

“Radio all in One” a complete product line:

The DIGIPLEXER 246 complements the DIGIPLEXER 2/4 (1U) launched at NAB last year. There are several differences between the two units: the DIGIPLEXER 246 will be upgradable to 6 band of audio processing and it has a larger chassis 3U in stead of 1U for the 2/4. It also includes a large touch screen allowing the user to perform all major adjustments and measurements without connecting a PC. The DIGIPLEXER 246 offers an optional exciter (20 and 100W). One thing both units have in common is the value for the price.

Availability:

The DIGIPLEXER 246 - 2 bands version will be available in May 2008 for shipping.

2008-04-28 - Product - Audemat to launch Navigator DVB S/H at NAB 2008
The first portable equipment on the market for DVB S/H measurement
Bordeaux-Mérignac, France – Wednesday, April 02, 2008, AUDEMAT (www.audemat.com) announced that they are introducing at NAB2008 on their booth N7932 the NAVIGATOR DVB S/H. It is the first test and measurement equipment for lab and field use in DVB-SH. This unit is the result of an R&D from Alcatel-Lucent to develop test and Measurement for DVB-SH. The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH has been designed to perform mobile measurement campaigns for DVB-T, DVB-H and DVB-SH networks and is compatible with S-UMTS and VHF/UHF bands. This portable equipment can be used either in a vehicle moving at normal speed or by a pedestrian (indoors or outdoors). The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH includes a high quality receiver for accurate DVB-SH measurements. When the mobile measurement campaign is finished, the DVB Reader software automatically performs a quality analysis: all the essential parameters are compared to standardized values and an overall quality indicator is generated (Good, Average or Bad). These indicators can also be displayed on a map, so that users can evaluate instantaneously their coverage quality. In addition the NAVIGATOR DVB-SH can be used for installation of DVB-SH terrestrial repeaters that complement satellite coverage. “The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH is the first mobile test and measurement equipment DVB-SH-by-Alcatel approved on the market” States Jean-Baptiste Roux VP of Sales for Audemat. “It is capable of measuring and determining the reception quality of a mobile DVB-H and DVB-SH TV signal”. This unit has been developed in partnership with Teamcast and UDCAST, two DVB specialists (Audemat and Teamcast), part of the Alcatel DVB-SH work group. Audemat used its expertise in mobile Test and Measurement systems to develop a laboratory type equipment that remains rugged and user friendly. This unit targets TELCO operators or manufacturers like Alcatel (France), Orange (France), ICO (USA) or Broadcasters such as RAI (Italy) or SFR (France) that are working on pilot projects for mobile TV broadcasting in DVB-SH. Several DVB-SH deployments are happening around the world at this time. “The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH is the first unit of its kind which combines laboratory grade equipment for transmitter installation and validation of the transmitter’s settings; and mobile test equipment to mesure the quality of reception” state Nicolas Boulay VP R&D for Audemat. “This product is very important for the US market with the coming introduction of DVB-SH by ICO and other operators” States Christophe Poulain, VP of Sales for Audemat Inc. Audemat will be organizing some tests with ICO during the NAB show.
