2007-12-11 - Corporate - The Audemat group decides compensate for the CO2 emissions generated by its activity
The Audemat group announced that it decided to expand its responsible approach to environmental concerns that came about through ISO 14001 certification, the environmental management standards which exist to help organizations minimize the negative impact of their operations on the environment. Concrete actions aiming to offset production of greenhouse gas have started: construction of a production plant with HQE (High environmental quality – Eco building) and design of new products with low energy consumption are two examples involving a large majority of the employees of the company...

2007-10-19 - Product - Ecreso liquid cooled systems IBC
The main technical benefits of liquid cooling lie in the fact that the system and its components run much cooler than the traditional air cooled systems; generally resulting in an extended lifespan for the system.

The Ecreso liquid cooled transmitters were also slightly more efficient then the air cooled equivalent transmitters; thus there is a slight saving in operational expenditure. The benefit of a cooler running system, higher efficiency and extended lifespan is a saving in maintenance, repair costs, operational running costs and downtime.

The expected extended lifespan of the Ecreso liquid cooled FM systems has allowed economies in the level of spares required to maintain the system over its expected lifetime.  While the initial cost of the Ecreso liquid cooled FM systems was higher than the equivalent Ecreso air cool systems the expected payback time was estimated to be less than six years; this was acceptable as the systems would be expected to be maintained for 15 to 20 years.

It is too early to say yet whether there will be a saving in maintenance time, effort and cost as the liquid cooled FM systems have only been running for just over one year, but the experience to date is that the maintenance requirements are minimum.

RTÉNL have been using traditional air-cooled Ecreso FM equipment for some years now and a good rapport has been built up between RTÉNL and the Ecreso team.  RTÉNL have worked closely with Ecreso research and development department and have found that their commercial and technical support is very customer orientated.

The first installation of the liquid cooled FM systems took place at Mount Leinster, which is a mountain hilltop site in County Carlow, Ireland.  As with a lot of mountainous terrain and isolated sites the electricity supply to the station can and does fluctuate, this unfortunately caused some problems during the installation and testing of the first set of liquid cooled FM systems.  Ecreso's technical team rose to the challenge and through tireless work and effort they, very quickly, succeeded in satisfying the overall specification requirements for the systems.

In conclusion RTÉNL have found that the consequential reduction in the noise levels in their transmitter halls and the cooler running of the FM transmitter systems is of great benefit from a health and safety point of view.  It must also be said that the introduction of isolation transformers to address the mains fluctuation issues, discovered at Mount Leinster, do introduce a single point of failure, but with the installation of electrical bypass systems the consequential effects of a possible transformer failure can be minimised.

2007-09-05 - Exhibition - ECRESO introduces 2x5kW liquid cooled FM transmitter at IBC booth 8.159
ECRESO announced today that they will showcase in Amsterdam their new 2 x 5 kW liquid cooled wide band, frequency agile, FM transmitters. The ECRESO R&D department developed a unique liquid cooled solution resulting in a 2 x 5kW dual drive liquid transmitter in a single 42 U cabinet. Each 5 kW transmitter is cooled by water plates that were built with military grade components for higher reliability. Each individual unit is driven by a Central Unit (CU) that enables quick and user-friendly access (color graphical 1/4 VGA display, bright keyboard and various menus) to the modules of the system. These control and monitoring functions developed by ECRESO enable easy and optimal maintenance of the system. More common in the TV industry, liquid cooled technology has been adapted to the ECRESO FM transmitters. This is the ideal solution for Broadcasters that are seeking for efficient high power FM transmitter, cost effective, long life, space savings and transmitters that are less damaging to the environment...

2007-07-31 - Product - ECRESO now propose a 10kW transmitter cooled by liquid
Extremely of its competence recognized in the solutions innovating for broadcasting FM and in partnership with the best specialists in liquid cooling, ECRESO launches today a very new generation of high power transmitters FM cooled by liquid.

The best of the technology of the Neptune range combined with a cooling whose effectiveness has the equal one only the reliability of the components used make these transmitters the best choice of investment for an broadcaster.

A lowering of more than 30° C compared to a solution with forced air cooling, confers on these transmitters reliability and an exceptional lifespan. An optimized efficiency makes it possible to gain meadows of 2kW of consumption compared to a traditional solution, thus generating substantial economies on the invoice of electricity.
